Abstract

Digital transformation has become an essential part of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services in various countries. Digitalization enables healthcare providers to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of services, one of which is through the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR). This system can replace manual record-keeping with more accurate, easily accessible digital data, while supporting clinical coordination among healthcare professionals (Ayaad et al., 2019). However, the implementation of EMR does not always run smoothly. In Indonesia, the digitalization of health information systems faces various challenges, such as infrastructure and human resource readiness, training, interoperability, and privacy. Meanwhile, a study at RSUD Kartini Karanganyar indicates that EMR implementation readiness needs to be reviewed from various aspects, including infrastructure, human resources, and management (Meylani et al., 2024).

Although various previous studies have highlighted important factors in the implementation of electronic medical records, there are still research gaps that need to be addressed. The research results are expected to provide a more comprehensive picture of the determining factors for the success of EMRs in regional hospitals, while also serving as a basis for strategic recommendations for policymakers, hospital management, and other stakeholders in optimizing the use of electronic medical records to support the improvement of sustainable healthcare quality.
